God’s wonderful works

“O Lord, you have searched me and you know me..I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Psalm 139:1 & 14

God’s works are Wonderful, and I do know that full well.  I’ve seen it and I’m seeing it more each and everyday.  I see it in the lives of my friends and family.  Car wrecks that could have been far worse, loss of all replaced with strengthening of man, finances that defy our economy, time that is enough to complete what God has for you, peace that passes all understanding.

You  may be wondering why you aren’t seeing the wonderful works of God.  May I be so bold as to suggest perhaps you aren’t looking?  I’m not saying you aren’t wanting to see the wonderful works of God, I’m just thinking that in reality the majority of us are looking in the wrong places.  We are looking at our circumstances, at the world’s economic decline, at the argument, at the checkbook balance, at others reactions or simply at our inner feelings, thoughts or emotions.

If you want to experience and see first hand the wonderful works of God in your life and in the lives of those around you you have to get your eyes off this world and what it is telling you about the devastation and get your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of your faith.

Psalm 139 gives you hope and understanding of how wonderful God’s works are and where to look to see them. I’ve re-scripted it with my own comments in between. Change your perspective and this is what you’ll see and when you see this, and keep your focus on this you will see what I see:

He has searched you and He knows you.  He actually knows when you sit and when you get up, He knows your thoughts, He is familiar with all your ways.  (and He loves every part about you, He made you and He rejoices in you, even in your failures and hardships)  He hems you in, behind and before, He has laid his hand upon you.  You are safe and secure in Him no matter what.

“Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain” Psalm 139: 6

You can not flee from the Holy Spirit, He is always in your presence, even if you don’t ‘feel’ Him, He is there.  If you spend time with Him, He is there, if you go to the pit of despair He is there.  His hand will guide you, His hand will hold you.  You think that surely darkness will hide you but the Light of Jesus makes the night shine like day.  Darkness has no light in God.  He created your inmost being, He created you specifically, in your mothers womb.  He has ordained your days before you were even born.  He knows the plans He has for you.

I promise…when you focus on that truth you have no choice but to see the wonderful works of our God.  I’ll tell you more about what I see and where I’ve been for the last week while away from the blog, it hasn’t been far but I pray you all choose to go where I’ve been.

A prisoner of Hope,

Tracy
