Sneak Peek

I’ll tell you where I’m going on Friday!

But before I do, let me give you a sneak peek….it is somewhere HOURS from my house, I’m not taking anyone with me.  My kids will be with Grandma and Grandpa, the Dogs will be with my husband. I will be with my bible, God and a community of believers (all strangers except one very dear friend who will meet me there).  There is no access to telephone, computer, texting, television, electricity.

Theme Scripture:  2 Corinthians 4:6-7  For God, who said “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.  But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

Devotional: Carvings in His Palm: What God thinks when he whispers your name!   by Brenda Craig

Additional books that I’ll have on hand:

Crazy Love by Francis Chan (read this book twice already, it is one I will never completely absorb)

The Shelter of the Most High and This day we fight! by Francis Frangipane (I’ve found you can’t go wrong with any book written by a Francis…I think my grandmother should have written a book.  Maybe that will be my Pen Name  Francis Tracy,….oooo I like it, be looking for a book in stores near you by Francis Tracy!)

Developing a Supernatural Lifestyle by Kris Vallotton (Bre gave it to me and i need to read it!)

Inspired to Pray: The Art of seeking God by Phil Pringle.  I know nothing about this book except it is heavy.  I mean physically it weighs a lot!  It is a rather small book, but they must have used some lead paper or something, its crazy heavy.  I’m hoping its just carrying lots of the Holy Spirit in it and once I open the pages it will transfer and I’ll gain some Holy Spirit weight by the time I return!

Also, for good measure I’m bringing the book that I have been absorbed in since earlier this year, Love Without Hurt by Steven Stosny, Ph.D.  Lots of good stuff in that book and when you are learning how to live, think, speak, and act differently it takes going over the material multiple times to get the new ‘lingo’ down.  I think it has saved me from the mental hospital and will continue to pour over it until I can teach the concepts.  Not that I will teach the concepts but that is how I do things, learn enough about a subject to teach it, I just gotta get the information into my core.  It focuses on building your Core Value so you can have Love with out hurt no matter where or what kind of people you relate to!  I recommend it for anyone who has ever experienced relationships that are resentful, angry or emotionally hurtful.  If you don’t think that applies to you, you’re probably in denial:)

List of what to bring:  Clothes, Toiletries(no make-up, AHHH shocker I know), raincoat(just in case), bug repellant (another great hint for you, yes  I’ll be outside a lot), Sunscreen, Pillow (I really love my pillow and although where I’m going they provide linens and pillows, I can’t leave mine behind), Battery alarm clock or watch, camera (YEAH, lots of pictures to post when I return), Books, Bible, Journal, Cash, Open heart and mind to receive all God has for me.  Yep, I think that’s it!  oh wait, yes I’ll bring my IPod and use it until it runs out of batteries, then I’ll be on my own for worship…remember it only says make a joyful noise unto the Lord, not an in tune one:)  HAHA!

I forgot to mention I leave Friday and return the following Thursday!  Glory!

Later this week I’ll chat with you about the theme verse and tell you what I’ve learned thus far as I prepare for this Sabbatical and then Friday, you’ll hear all about where I’m going!

Talk to ya soon,

Tracy
