Are you still there?

Hello….

Are you still out there?  last I heard from you was August 9th when Sergeant Teenage Hormones made a stop by the blog:)

Well the Sergeant is still doing his job.  It is very interesting to watch this:

…transform into a man.  He is really going to be great!  I know it.  It has been a difficult season for this boy.  He’s sorted through things that most adults don’t have to sort through and he’s come out with shining colors.  Well almost:)  He’s still got some work to do but its the normal 13-30 year old work.  I’m confident that one day he’ll be a fully functioning, well-adjusted, productive adult.  Currently, we are in process of figuring out how to be a teenager AND how to be a teenager with such a cool mom!

Wednesday, the kids were let out of school in the afternoon for a VERY LONG weekend.  Why do teachers need in-service conferences????? Anyhow….little Mr. Hamaker had some school work that he needed to complete by Monday and we agreed that he would complete it BEFORE Sunday.  Something about a free and clear Sunday, is a great launching point for a fresh Monday.  Well, as time passed and as mom(me) reminded him of his agreement, he continued to say “I KNOW”!  I was exasperating the kid.  But, come last night, when the homework wasn’t done, he pleaded with me to give him grace and mercy….just this once(OH THE DRAMA).  I, of course, being the coolio mom that I am said “oh don’t worry about it, it’s too late now, you can do it tomorrow after you mow the lawn”.

THE LAWN!!! WHAT WE DIDN’T AGREE TO THAT.

“I know, we agreed that the work would be done before Sunday, and it’s not, so you can just do it after you mow the lawn tomorrow”

MOM, I AM NOT GOING TO MOW THE LAWN, THAT IS NOT FAIR.

“I know”

.HMPHH…

Bright and early this morning, the teenager inquired about a friend coming over and this and that….”No, I don’t think so, we weren’t able to keep our agreement about homework, so I can’t really agree with you about any new plans”

MOM!

“I know”

FINE!~boy goes and completes his homework(in about 15 minutes, there wasn’t THAT much to do for crying out loud).  THERE I’M DONE, NOW CAN WE….

“Would you like me to help you get the lawnmower out?”

MOM, I AM NOT MOWING THE LAWN

“hmmm”

OK, FINE, HELP ME GET THE LAWN MOWER OUT.

Lawn is mowed.

“I sure hope you don’t learn your life lessons to quickly”

I DON’T THINK THAT IS SOMETHING TO SAY TO A TEENAGER.

“Sure ya do, because the longer it takes you to learn your lessons, the more stuff gets done around my house!”

*silence*

MOM!

I love this age of life so much!  It really is so fun watching them grow.

I wonder how much fun this one will be at 13:

Until then…..

HA! I’m kidding, I won’t wait 3 years to write again.  As a matter of fact, I’ve written hundreds of blogs since August, they just haven’t made it to this site!  They’ve been written in my head while drying my hair, next to the pool during swim team practice and early in the morning while wrestling with God for a couple more hours of sleep.  I’ll be better at scribing them to paper(or screen) and sharing them with you.  But clearly you can see I have my hands full!

Cheers!
