Christmas Memoir

Its still very quiet this morning, snow covers the ground outside, and the fire is blazing.  The brilliant blue sky’s of Central Oregon are taking my breath away today as I sit and let the memories soak in.  I don’t want to loose one detail.

It all started last week, on this very day when my husband arrived home from his 2 week business trip.  We had all been anticipating his arrival, his presence is very much missed when he is gone.  Even the pups don’t know what to do. We packed up the next day and made our way to Portland to have our Christmas celebration with his family.

Christmas lights on boats, long lines of cars as we waited to see the houses, music and laughter.  It was perfect.  Wonderful food and visits with friends.  Peaceful and right.  Gifts that keep on giving, recipe’s exchanged.  Love filled our hearts.

The ride back home was full of adventure.  Lots of snow and a downed tree kept us waiting for over an hour somewhere between there and here.  My husband graciously and excitedly got out to help.  Cutting up the tree and creating a path.  More snow, cookies and sweets to feed us dinner, as we drove, slowly home 6 hours later…

…to find…our sewer pump was broken.  Oh joy!  Don’t use any unnecessary water.

Christmas Eve….a pie to be made, bread to be baked, dressing up to be had….and a sewer to be fixed.  The Christmas miracle of 2012, many thousands of dollars later, we could flush! Thank you sewer man.

All dressed up to remember the birth of our savior and set our hearts on the only important gift of all.  Carols were sung, laughter, dip and chips, amazing dinner, presents, joy, smiles, love.

goodnights, sleep…or not (it was Christmas Eve and I don’t remember the last time I slept on this night, too excited!!)

Up we are at 7a.m., coffee, cinnamon rolls, stockings, gifts, warmth, joy, precious peace.

More family, more celebration, more love.  Great food, apple pie, hugs, smiles, laughter, joy.

Goodbyes, movies, rest, peace…amazed.

Simply Amazed, you have done good my Lord.  You are a faithful God and you are good.  I love you!
