Gathering 11

Some of you are teachers.  You know you are a teacher if you study and just can’t wait to share what you learned with people.  You just can’t stand to keep it to yourself.  You just have to tweet out that sentence or write that blog.  It just isn’t content to be your own knowledge and understanding it has to be given to other people.  And its about time that you get out there and do it.  Just do the thing….Gather up your 11 disciples and pour into them.  Study with them…it doesn’t have to be a big thing it just has to be something.  Get out there and do it”

That’s what she said to me on Saturday.  I’m pretty sure she was saying it to me although its hard to distinguish who exactly she could have been addressing in the sea of 7300 people, but I’m relatively sure she looked me straight in the eyes and said those words.  I even had my girlfriends beside me giving me that ‘she’s talking to you’ eye and that ‘that is so you’ snicker and the ‘listen up’ nudge.

I knew it.  I’ve known it.  I was doing it and now I am away from it.  Well, not really because you read this blog and others twitter at my tweets or like my status updates.  Its all mostly for the reason to teach and share and encourage.  That is the very core of my DNA.  Its why I want to go to school and master the discipline of family and child counseling….so that I can teach them. So that my door can be open to others.  So that I might make the most of my opportunities.  So that I can fill my DASH.

But also, I know that I need to start right where I am.  I heard God Clearly.  And I heard Him again yesterday morning at church!  Which is a story in and of itself because Ken Wystma was preaching about envy and not really about teaching but lo and behold the Lord spoke it again to me:

Gather 11.  Talk truth together.  Study God’s word.  Grapple with spiritual things and have deep meaningful conversation.

and so I gather….

The Dash

Declaring the end FROM the beginning…. Isaiah 46:10

Saying “My purpose will be established and I will accomplish all My good pleasure.

The end glorifies the means!  That’s what Beth Moore said on Day 2.  God knows the end from the beginning.  Our times are in HIS hands (psalm 31:15a).  He knew the very day you would be born and he knows the very day he will take you home.  Those are fixed dates on your timeline and the parts that you have influence over are in the dash.

Tracy Atchison Paul: August 30,1971 – ______________

Do you see that dash between my birth date and the line.  That’s where I’m living right now.  You are living in your dash now too.  What will you do with your dash?

Beth says God calls us to redeem the time.  See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Eph 5:15-16.

Redeem: Rescue, ransom,  improve the opportunity, buy back

We must determine to buy back our time, not to become a slave to it!  The dash of your life is full of seasons and opportunities.  Our life is not just a succession of minutes but of a period of opportunity.  What will you avail during your dash?

Get out there and do it…..

Appointed Time

Seriously, if you haven’t read my last blog “The way I see it”, you have to go back and read it before you read this one. It will bring all the more glory to God if you do.

Tonight, I was at Beth Moore’s Living Proof Live conference in Eugene, OR. I love Beth Moore. She was my first introduction to good bible study and has been my standard ever since as to how to teach and learn and celebrate God’s word. Tonight, God got me. I was praying that He would have a word for me tonight and that I might know that He was speaking to me specifically and not just to a room of 7300 people.

Beth Prayed:
“God be Astonishing in Power, come and get your glory Lord”

Yes, Lord, do that!

What came next was not expected but desired. God spoke and it echoed my last blog.

TIME

I don’t have time to share with you all that was spoken and all that was learned but I’ll highlight enough for you to be astonished.

First, She Preached right out of Ecclesiastes! Wasn’t God just speaking this right to me last week?

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Eccl. 3:11)

Beth had the other key to the words that God spoke to me earlier this week, as I sorted out my timeline of life and where I think God was guiding me as I reached to satisfy and complete my ‘life’s work’. She went on to say these things:

Time COMES, it does not GO. Life is not a count down; it is a counting up to something. We are not running out of time; something is coming. Time isn’t winding down; it’ working up. Time always ‘COMES’ in the bible.

Now granted these words probably don’t hit you straight in the heart like they do me. And quite honestly they may not even speak to you at all but lets be real hear, this is my journal not yours and I don’t expect that you would be completely blown away with God’s good workings in my life but celebrate with me the little fact that God was speaking to me on Tuesday the very same message, in different words, that He spoke to me tonight.

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.

What time is it? And what are you going to do with it?
