We gathered. Eight women gathered together and studied God’s word. It was simple, really. Bibles, journals, and hearts wide open. We gathered.
Wisdom was the topic at hand and I had spent the last 7 days digging deep to lead us to a starting point that made sense. This wisdom thing, it is full of depth and is a topic that will probably take us into the next 3 years! I was so thrilled to see the beginning of this Gathering unfold.
It is amazing really, that you can gather 8 women, from different church backgrounds, from varying degrees of understanding, from different homes, some with families, some with not, some with jobs, some with not, some who live and breath Jesus daily and some who breath him every so often. All to find that the Jesus in us is what makes our heart beat and our lungs breath. The Jesus is the same Jesus in the bible and together we all are the same. God never ceases to amaze me on things like this.
We sought wisdom. I’ll tell you what we found. 1 Kings 4:29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.
God gives wisdom. The Lord puts the wisdom in you. Wisdom is the Lord’s. God gave wisdom to Solomon and exceedingly great understanding and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore. I just want enough of that to fill a small corner of the sand box, if you know what I mean. God give US wisdom.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.Psalm 111:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Yep, that got me too. As I studied this last week and I asked where does this wisdom come from, where do I get it, where does it begin? The answer came and it dropped in my lap like a ton of bricks. I had read that before and I had understanding about it but was God’s wisdom behind ‘the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom’ my understanding?
We uncovered this truth as we were wrapping up The Gathering last night. So we left it out there on the table with the charge to ‘go chew on that’. Go take the truth that ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom’. Think on it. Meditate with it. Tear it apart on your own and bring back all the pieces next week to share.
Until we meet again…
…The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom? What is that all about? Go find the deeper understanding of God’s truth!
ps. If you are in Bend you are welcome to join us, this is an open group, with open doors and open chairs! Come and Gather.
Very nice. 🙂 Can you send this to my mom too? Or invite her to follow it, or however that works, if you didn’t already. beckjohnston@yahoo.com. 🙂 Jenny
