The accuser

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Messiah.  For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.  They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the work of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.  Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them!  But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you!  He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”  Revelation 12:10-12

Bad news:  The accuser, the devil, is down here on earth and the sea, filled with fury and his mission is to deceive the world.

Good news:  His time is short

Not short enough, I say!  I think when you dig into God’s word and sit close to Jesus and write for all the world to read (my blog reaches nations, especially Tucson, where my mom lovingly sits and reads each and every word), it is these times that the deceiver takes out his fury of being cast out of heaven and separated from God.  It makes him infuriated when he sees God’s children making moves toward a more abundant, faithful life in Christ!

Boo on him is what I say.  Its not very nice to be the target of any accuser, let alone the devil.  I’ve been at the short end of the stick at times in this world and it never seems fair and unfortunately I think God get the brunt of the blame.  Why God?

Are you tempted to believe that God is mad at you because he hasn’t stopped the accusers in your life?  Well he’s not.  God is the one that justifies you!  Christ Jesus, died to raise you to life, to intercede on your behalf, to make you conquerors in all things through HIM!

Ultimately, the great accuser no longer has power to accuse.  His words hold no power in the Kingdom of God.  For the Christ follower, we have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus and no accuser can change that, not one.

Sure the old saying is “sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me”.  That’s stupid, words do hurt me.  It’s a lie I sang to myself to try to overcome the words of the accusers as a child.  I decided to change it today, “Words and Lies will scar my heart but the accusers never win”.

With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord; in the great throng of worshipers I will praise him.  For he stands at the right hand of the needy, to save their lives from those who would condemn them. Psalm 109:30-31
