The words on my desk

Words are important to me.  In my previous home I had gathered many plaques and pictures with words, sayings, bible verses, etc.  I will concede that it may have been a little over the top but for some reason words hanging on my wall bring me more of a sense of “homey” than a beautiful painting or picture.  Words define what you see, what is in your heart and mind.  I love the beauty of words.

We just moved into our new home and it was declared early on that this was not a house for words.  Haha, little did they know…..

Alas, I have conceded to sorting my word decor and letting go of some of them.  This morning as I sat down to study The Word at my new desk space, I chuckled because I realized that my most favorite of all the Word Decor has made its way to the safety of MY SPACE.  Its as if I’m hording them here, keeping them safe in the “word reservation zone”.image5

This is my desk space.  Just to the right of this you get to look out at this:IMG_2507.JPG

Blessed and Blessed.  The End.

Words that surround me:

These are my words.  The first words I wrote, that a dear friend turned into a song and then had this created as a reminder of God’s sovereignty in my life.  He is the Potter, I am the clay and He creates in me.

I bought this gem for $10 at a swap.  Possibly my most favorite Hymn.  “His will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures”.  Amazing Grace indeed.

Again with the grace.  Quite honestly, if you haven’t grasped GRACE in your christian walk then you’ve missed it completely.  Grace is the gospel.  Grace is Jesus.  Grace is given to you.  Grace is free.  By Grace you have been saved, through faith!

THESE WORDS….these are the most precious ones.  Last year, when the Lord spoke to my heart the word “home” for 2015 and I hated it, and then he placed this scripture in my lap and I loved it…and then my daughter, by free hand wrote it out and framed it for my Christmas gift.  Brilliant!

Ya’ll (I think I secretly want to be Texan where my friends Jen Hatmaker and Joanna Gaines live)….Ya’ll God has been good to me.  Yes he has graced me with this home and this place but so much more he has given me grace and called me to himself.  I can not grasp the fact that He calls me his own.  That He loved me so much that for me alone he would have given his son’s life as a sacrifice for my sin.  As Jen would say “I can’t even”.

He did the same for you.  Scripture says God longs for us, He desires to be in relationship with His creation.  1 Timothy 2 says He “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth”.  My prayer for you is this:

That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (from Ephesians 3)

Grace to you!

The word is THE WORD

It is as if I was born with words planted deep in my being.  I was told I was a talker as a child, I am a talker now.  I wrote early on to express what was bubbling up in side of me.  I write.  I read.  I love God’s Word. The Holy Bible, inspired, inherent, and authoritative. The most important of all words every written, spoken or read.  Valuable.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.  John 1:1-3

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

Jesus is the Word in FLESH.

As I prayed for the Lord to give me His focus for the year of 2016, I knew instantly that the word is THE WORD.  I have hesitated writing this down because embracing this word for the year is a very heavy task.  The Word is no small thing, it demands respect and commitment.  It is without timidity that I stand firm in my resolution to bring honor and glory to THE WORD in 2016.

The Word I need

The Word I need is The WORD that was, that put on flesh to dwell with us, Jesus.

This year I will finish writing the Biblical Counseling Exam and submit my application for certification.  This year I will seek to know and live God’s word with more tenacity and fervor then ever in the years past.  This year I will write.  I will write words down here and I will write down words at my desk and stow them away for rainy days.

Words.  The Word. 2016
