I just started reading ‘Trusting in the Names of God” by Catherine Martin. It is a 30 day journey to knowing, trusting and discovering God’s names. I’m sure I’ll have much to share as I continue in this book but let me share with you know, how just thinking about the NAME OF GOD has given me new perspective.
This morning we read in Ezekiel 20…Verses 9,14, and 22 all have this same statement from the Lord to the Israelites, “But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned…” Then He ends this by saying in Verse 44 “You will know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for MY NAMES SAKE and not according to your evil ways and your corrupt practices O’ house of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord”
Interesting, this statement ‘For my names sake’.
The Israelites, and you and I for that matter, deserve punishment for our corrupt and evil ways. No matter how ‘good’ we think we are, we fall short of the Glory of God. But in Gods act of mercy He takes His own initiative to save the honor of His name.
“For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my Glory to another.” Isaiah 48:11
Time after time God remains faithful even when we fail. He remains loyal even in our sin and He does this all for HIS NAMES SAKE. He is all good, all forgiving, only creator, all sovereign Lord. He is enough for you, your provider, all seeing, all knowing, everything you need. Your healer, your sanctifier, your peace, your deliverer, your shepherd your Father! For HIS NAMES SAKE He saved you!!!
Recovered and Restored for the Sake of HIS NAME,
Tracy
