A Tribute to Zach the Dog

Holly McKim

August 1994-November 9, 2010

My dear friend said goodbye to her best canine friend today.  He was 16 years old and lived a full life.  When we loose our pets it takes a little piece of our hearts away.

I thought you might be interested to know that 39% of the US households own at least one dog.  That’s a lot of homes that are loving and investing in an animal.  They really do become part of your family.

As I think about the many dogs that have been a part of my life, the many dogs I’ve said goodbye to….I can say without a doubt that the grief of loosing one is the same as loosing a person.  Grief is grief, there is no way around it.  It is in these times that we would be well to cuddle up under the shelter of God’s wing and be comforted by the Comforter.

Rest in Peace Zach and run like the wind through the fields of grace……

  1. Hi Tracy and Holly. I lost my beautiful Zach 11 days later on the 20th of November 2010. He was a collie mix and a beautiful boy..just like your Zach. I know what your going through. I had my boy for nearly 15 years and I am so lonely without him.I feel there is noone watching out for me anymore. I hope that some day you will find another dog that will make you happy….but no dog will ever take the place of Zach.I hope and pray they are both in eternal paradise together.

    Best wishes for the future
