Jeremiah 17:7-8 has been eating at me, nagging in all senses and I can’t let it go
Blessed are those who TRUST in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
I want to be that tree! Planted in a place close to water…where my roots go directly to the stream…never thirsty. No fear of heat or circumstances, Green leaves…not dried up shriveled ones. No worries in a year of economic downturn…but thriving and bearing fruit! Doesn’t that sound fantastic?
I guess it is as simple as trusting in the Lord and putting our confidence in Him and we will be that Tree! Trust~part of this word in the Greek means careless. We usually think of that word as negative…not caring…but think of it as having no care in the world because your God has it in control.
Whose confidence is in Him…
Assurance, hope, security, trust. You don’t have to be confident in yourself…and for sure not in your heart that can deceive you but have all assurance in your GOD! If we can figure this thing out and put our Trust in the Lord, put our confidence in Him, we really don’t need to be worrying about our incompetence. As Beth Moore said in her simulcast recently we are Confidently Confident!
Trust and confidence in Him plants us in the flowing, living water…it ensures that our leaves will be green. It keeps us from worry because we will never fail to bear fruit when our trust is in Him. We will not fear in these times because our confidence, our hope is in the One who has us in His hands.
I said when we have this all figured out…I definitely don’t have this figured out…But I believe it to be truth. So if I believe it and will keep this truth close to my heart…God will grow it and soon my roots will be sent out by the stream.
