Knowledge of the Glory of God

For God, who said “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.  But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.  2 Corinthians 4:6-7

First of all, a God that can say “Let light shine out of darkness” and sure enough out of darkness comes light, that is the God I want to serve.  Think about it.  If you were sitting in complete darkness.  A pit of darkness.  A word is spoken and out comes light!  That is a miracle and much better than the ‘clapper’ light switch which from first hand knowledge doesn’t always work when you clap:)  I prefer  to stick with the one who I know will speak and out of that spoken word comes light!

Next revelation, God made His light in our HEARTS to give us the light of KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF GOD!  Seriously!   Read back on the beginning of my year.  Do you remember the GLORY list.  I’ll admit to you right here and now that I stopped the Glory List in March, actually in February.  Life happened and I stopped seeing or looking for Glory.  I can look back now and see LOTS of Glory points since then.  But to realize that the theme verse for my Sabbatical talks about how God has given us the KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF GOD….in our hearts!  WHOO!  How exciting is that. Now I know that this knowledge of the Glory of God will take some meditation and stillness to have revealed and that is precisely why I’m takin’ off in a couple days.

Now, “we have this treasure in jars of clay”.  This is one of the most powerful proofs of Gods power, that he would choose such an earthen vessel to bear such splendor and keep such a treasure as the ‘knowledge of the Glory of God.  God has chosen you and I, in all our brokenness and failures to carry this treasure, so as to prove that it is from God and not from us.

You and I my friend have been been given a GREAT privilege and despite all of our hang-ups and problems and failures, God still chooses you to be his vessel to hold His treasure and to spread His light.  You have a responsibility to display the Righteousness of Christ.

I admit, this is a revelation that is often hard for me to understand and even to accept.  But, my friends, we must grasp this understanding and I for one am going to search it out and sew it into my very being!
